From 1 March 2011 Qconferencing takes over the Virtual Meeting videoconferencing service from Sound of Data. This is the second take-over of a Managed Service by Qconferencing this year, after the acquisition of the videoconferencing services for 60 hospitals from Surfnet on 1 January this year.
With this acquisition Qconferencing positioned itself as a leading provider in the Netherlands for videoconferencing services, such as multipoint conferencing, firewall traversal, bridging IP to ISDN, video recording and streaming and the use of webclients.
Bas Berkemeijer of Sound of Data explains: “As a result of strategic reorientation we decided at the end of last year to renounce our videoconferencing activities. One of the main reasons is that we wish to strengthen our focus on three directions: Customer Contact Services, Media Services and (Mobile) Travel Solutions. An important decision, that could not come at the expense of our Virtual Meeting customers. Now that Qconferencing, with whom we already cooperated in some joint projects, is taking over the service, we are assured that our customers are in good hands,”
